An Act relating to veterans; creating the K-I-A 
Reinterment Fund; specifying use of fund; requiring 
Director to establish procedure and criteria; 
providing for codification; providing an effective 
date; and declaring an emergency. 
 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OK LAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be co dified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 35 of Title 72, unless there is 
created a duplication in numb ering, reads as follows: 
A. There is hereby created in the State Treasu ry a fund for the 
Oklahoma Department of Veterans Aff airs to be designated the “K-I-A 
Reinterment Fund”. The fund balance shall not exceed Three Hundred 
Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) and shall consist of: 
1.  All monies apportioned or allocated to the fund pursuant to 
law;

2.  Any amounts appropriated by the Legislature to the fund; and 
3.  Gifts, grants, and other donations received for the fund . 
B.  All monies accruing to the credit of the fund are hereby 
appropriated and may be budgeted and expended by the Department of 
Veterans Affairs for the purposes of disinterring those who were 
killed in action while in combat with a hostile force and 
reinterment in a State Veterans Cemetery . Expenditures from the 
fund shall be made upon warrants issued by the St ate Treasurer 
against claims filed a s prescribed by law with the Director of the 
Office of Management and Enterprise Services for approval and 
payment. 
C. The Director of the Department of Vetera ns Affairs shall 
establish the application pr ocedure and the criteria for awarding 
financial assistance. 
D.  All applications for reinter ment shall be approved b y the 
Oklahoma Veterans Commission. 
SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective July 1, 2022. 
SECTION 3.  It being immediat ely necessary for the preservation 
of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby 
declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and 
be in full force from and after its passage and appro val.
