AS INTRODUCED 
 
An Act relating to sheriffs; allowing counties to 
designate hospitals to determine certain medical 
status of arrestees; providing certain exemptions; 
providing for codification; and providing an 
effective date. 
 
 
 
 
 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: 
SECTION 1.     NEW LAW     A new section of law to be codified 
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 530 of Title 19, unless there is 
created a duplication in numb ering, reads as follows: 
A. A county may designate one or more hospitals within the 
county to determine whether or not it is medically advisable for an 
arrestee to be housed in the county jail. 
B. If such a designated hospital deems it medically inadvisable 
for an arrestee to be housed in the county jail, then the county 
shall not be required to house such arreste e. 
C. Nothing in this section shall preclude a county from 
agreeing to house an arrestee in the county jail or in another

place, even if a hospital deems it medically inadvisable for the 
arrestee to be housed in the county jail. 
SECTION 2.  This act shall become effective November 1, 2022.
