AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to prevention and control of d isease;
amending 63 O.S. 2011, Section 1 -503, which relates
to reports of disease; providing for direct reporting
to city-county health departments; updat ing and
clarifying language; providing gender -neutral
language; and declaring an emergency .
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STAT E OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 63 O.S. 2011, Section 1 -503, is
amended to read as follows:
Section 1-503. (A) A. The State Board Commissioner of Health
shall promulgate rules and regulations establishing a system of
reporting of cases of diseases diagnosed or detected by p racticing
physicians and/or or clinical laboratories which come within the
purview of this article . The system of reporting shall also provide
for direct reporting by practi cing physicians or clinical
laboratories to city-county health departments . A reporting system
established by the Board Commissioner shall be applicable to penal
and eleemosynary institutions. Failure or refusal to report

diseases as required by the Board Commissioner shall constitute a
misdemeanor.
(b) B. It shall be the duty of ea ch local health officer to
report the existence of disease in his the officer's jurisdiction,
as may be required by rules and regulations of the State Board of
Health Commissioner.
SECTION 2. It being immediately necessary for the pr eservation
of the public peace, health or safety, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, by reason whe reof this act shall take effect and
be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
