BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 26 O.S. 2011, Section 7-102.1, is amended to read as follows: Section 7-102.1. A. Prior to the day of the election, it shall be the duty of the secretary of the county election board to prepare for each precinct where an election is to be held in the county, a written or electronic precinct registry which shall contain information on all registered voters in the precinct as prescribed SB712 HFLR Page 2 BOLD FACE denotes Committee Amendments. 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 by the Secretary of the State Election Board. The information which is or would be contained in such a registry shall at all times be public information. B. The Secretary of the State Election Board may authorize the use of electronic precinct registries by one or more county election boards. Subject to available funding, the Secretary may purchase any equipment and software necessary t o implement an electronic precinct registry system. The Secretary shall promulgate rules as necessary to implement, operate and maintain security for a system of electronic precinct registries. SECTION 2. AMENDATORY 26 O.S. 2011, Section 7-117, is amended to read as follows: Section 7-117. A. Persons who have been determined to be eligible to vote shall sign, in the presence of the clerk, the proper precinct registry. Said The clerk shall thereupon then issue proper ballots to said the person. The voter’s signature on said the precinct registry shall be the best evidence of said the voter’s having voted at said election. Said precinct registry B. Precinct registries including data from electronic precinct registries, shall be retained in the office of by the county election board for a period of twenty-two (22) twenty-four (24) months following the election and shall be subject to public inspection during regular office hours .
