BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 3-328 of Title 43A, unless there is created a duplication in numb ering, reads as follows: A. Subject to the availability of funds, the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services is hereby directed to contract with public and private entities located in the State of Oklahoma for the purpose of providing peer support crisis intervention, counseling and wellness for the law enforcement, firefighter, emergency medical and corrections commu nities impacted by trauma, cumulative stress, anxiety, a ddictions, death and su icide and the impact on their personal lives. Qualified crisis intervention training entities shall provide peer support teams trained in crisi s intervention and wellness strategies. C. Qualified crisis intervention training entities, as provided for in this section, shall be required to be d erived from the International Critical Inc ident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and shall employ the Critical Incident Stress M anagement (CISM) crisis intervention process . All instructors that teach the Critical Incident Stress Management process shall be ICISF approved instructors. D. Wellness strategies, required pursuant to this section , shall include, but not be limited to, resilience tra inings related to resiliency for the job, emotional survi val, substance abuse prevention, suicide prevention, financial a nd relationship strategies. Wellness training shall be taught using subject matter experts’ curriculum. SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2021. 58-1-318 BG 1/21/2021 3:48:15 PM
