SENATE BILL 931 By: Paxton
AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to firefighter retirement; providing
for certain increase in benefits; providing certain
offset; providing for adjustment of benefits for
certain persons; defining terms; and providing for
codification.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 49-143.8 of Title 11, unless
there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
A. Except as provided in subsect ion B of this section and for
persons receiving benefits pursuant to Sec tion 49-101 of Title 11 of
the Oklahoma Statutes, any person receiving benefits from the
Oklahoma Firefighters Pension and Retirement System as of June 30,
2021, who continues to receive benefits on or after July 1, 2022,
shall receive a two percent (2%) increase in the benefits in July
2022.
B. Any increase in benefits a person is eligible to receive
pursuant to subsection C of this section after June 30, 20 21, shall

be used to offset the increase in benefits pr ovided in subsection A
of this section.
C. Any increase in benefits a person is eligible to re ceive
pursuant to repealed Section 49-136 of Title 11 of the Oklahoma
Statutes after June 30, 2020, shall be used to offset the increase
in benefits provided in subsection A of this section .
