SENATE JOINT

AS INTRODUCED 
 
A Joint Resolution rescinding previous applications 
to the United States Congress to call a c onvention of 
the states under Article V of the United States 
Constitution; directing transmission; and requesting 
this resolution be published in the Congressional 
Record. 
 
 
 
 
WHEREAS, the Oklahoma Legislature has made applicati ons to the 
United States Congress to call one or mor e conventions to propose 
amendments concerning specific subj ects to the United States 
Constitution, pursuant to Article V thereof; 
WHEREAS, while no Article V amendat ory convention has yet taken 
place thus far in American history, nevertheless, there is a very 
real possibility that one, or more than one, could be triggered at 
some point in the future; and 
WHEREAS, regardless of their age, such past applications from 
Oklahoma lawmakers remain alive and vali d until such time as they 
are later formally rescind ed. 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE OF 
REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 58TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

THAT all resolutions, memorials, or other enactments previously 
passed by the Oklahoma Legislature or either house thereo f 
petitioning Congress for a convention under Article V of the United 
States Constitution shall be rescinded, cancelled, voided, 
nullified, and superseded upon passage of this resolution. 
THAT copies of this joint resolution be sent, within 30 days of 
passage, to the Clerk of the United States House of Representatives, 
the Secretary of the United States Senate, and each member of the 
Oklahoma Congressional delegatio n. 
THAT the members of the Oklahoma Legis lature request that this 
joint resolution be publish ed in the Congressional Record and listed 
in the official tally of state legislative applications relating to 
calling for the United States Congress to call a convention to 
propose amendments to the Unite d States Constitution.
