NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 5-148.1 of Title 70, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: A. Except as provided for in subsection B of this section, by July 1, 2026, each school district in this state shall undergo a risk and vulnerability assessment conducted by the Oklahoma School Security Institute. The asse ssment shall include recommendations to increase security on school district property. B. A school district that underwent a risk and vulnerability assessment conducted by the Oklahoma School Security Institute in the two (2) years prior to the effective date of this act shall be exempt from the provisions of subsection A of this section. After an initial risk and vuln erability assessment is conducted, school districts shall coordinate with the Oklaho ma School Security Institute to conduct re -assessments every five (5) years. SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023. SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health , or safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
