BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 63 O.S. 2021, Sect ion 1-515, is amended to read as follows: Section 1-515. A. Every physician attending a pregnant woman in Oklahoma during gestation shall, in the case of each woman so attended, take or cause to be taken a sample of blood of such woman at the time of first examination each of the following occurrences , and shall submit such sample to an approved laboratory for a standard serological test for syphilis : 1. At the time of the first prenatal visit; 2. Between twenty-eight (28) and thirty -two (32) weeks’ gestation; and 3. At the time of delivery . Req. In addition to the occurrences listed in subsection A of this section, the attending physician of a woman presenting with a spontaneous miscarriage or stillbirt h shall take or cause to be taken a sample of blood of such woman and shall submit such sample to an approved laboratory for a standard serological test for syphilis. C. Every other person permitted by law to attend upon pregnant women in the state but no t permitted by law to take blood tests shall cause a sample of the bloo d of such pregnant woman to be taken by a duly licensed physician, licensed to practice in the State of Oklahoma this state, and submitted to an approved laboratory for a standard serological test for syphilis. D. The term “approved laboratory” shall mean a laboratory approved for the purposes of this section by the State Commissioner of Health. A standard serological test for syphilis shall be one recognized as such by the Commissione r. Such laboratory tests shall be made, on request, without charge by the State Depa rtment of Health.
