SENATE BILL 883 By: Jett
AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to courts; amending 20 O.S. 202 1,
Section 16.11, which relates to annual reports;
requiring certain information included in certain
report; requiring certain report to be publicly
available on certain we bsite; updating statutory
language; and providing an effective date .
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 20 O.S. 2021, Section 16.11, is
amended to read as follows:
Section 16.11. A. The Administrative Director of the Courts is
requested to submit a report to the Legislature each year commencing
in January, 1970 (and in each January thereafter), on the following
subjects:
(a) 1. Whether or not the boundaries of the district court
judicial districts should be changed. If a change is r ecommended,
the report should indicate the counties that should be included in
each district.;
(b) 2. The number of district judges and associate district
judges that should be authori zed for each judicial district .;

(c) 3. If the formula for the number of special judges to be
allowed to each judicial administrative dis trict should be changed .;
(d) 4. The case load pending in each district court judicial
district. Such report shall detail:
a. the case load by each type of case pending in each
district court judicial district, and
b. the starting number of cases, the nu mber of cases
closed during the year, and the numbe r of cases
pending at the end of the year; and
(e) 5. The number of cases heard on their merits by each judge
of the district court dur ing the preceding year.
(f) In making the above such report, said the Administrative
Director shall, along with whateve r other criteria he or she uses in
making the report, consider the area involved in the judicial
district and the distances involved be tween the places where court
is held in said the district.
B. The Administrative Director shall make the repor t publicly
available on the website for the Oklahoma Supreme Court or any other
website used by the Administrative Director to provide publicly
available information.
SECTION 2. This act shall becom e effective November 1, 2023.
