BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA: SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 250.8 of Title 74, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: A. No state employee shall be annually compensated more than the Governor of this state pursuant to the salary established in Section 250.4 of Title 74 of the Oklah oma Statutes. B. Except as provided in sub section C of this section and for the purposes of this section, “state employee” means and includes each officer or employee elected or employed in the service of this state. The following sta te employees shall be exempt from the requirements in subsection A of this section: 1. Officers and members of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education and state employees of institutions under the administrative authority of The Oklahoma State System of Higher Education; and 2. Physicians and other licensed health care professionals under the administrative authority of any state department or agency. D. State employee compensation greater than the Governor ’s may be submitted to the Legislature b y the director of the respective state department or agency. The Legislature may approve submitted compensation by the proper passage of a joint or concurrent resolution. SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2024. SECTION 3.
