SENATE BILL 428 By: Montgomery
AS INTRODUCED
An Act relating to schools; authorizing s chool
districts to issue requests for proposals and enter
into contracts for certain security alert system;
requiring system to include certain features;
providing for codification; providing an effective
date; and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OK LAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 5-149.4 of Title 70, unless
there is created a duplication in numb ering, reads as follows:
A. Each school district in this state sha ll be authorized to
issue a request for proposals and enter into a contract with a
vendor to provide a security alert system for the safety and
security of the district.
B. The security alert system shall:
1. Connect the caller with 9 -1-1 emergency responders while
simultaneously notifying designated school district personnel; and
2. Be available for use as a smartphone application .
SECTION 2. This act shall become effective July 1, 2023.

SECTION 3. It being immediately necessary for the preservation
of the public peace, health, or safety, an emergency is hereby
declared to exist, by reason whereof thi s act shall take effect and
be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
