NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 6513 of Title 68, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows: A. The Corporation Commission shall establish minimum fire safety standards which require charging station operators who provide access to elec tric vehicle charging equipment housed in multistory buildings to comply with the provisions of this section. B. Each charging station operator who provides access to electric vehicle charging equipment housed in multistory buildings Req. Electric vehicle charging stations shall comply with the minimums set forth in Article 625 of the National Electric al Code (NEC) and the National Fire Pro tection Association (NFPA) codes 70 and 88a for the design, installation, and continued operation of electric vehicle charging equipment housed in multistory buildings; 2. Electric vehicle charging stations shall be housed on the ground floor of any m ultilevel structure; 3. Electric vehicle charging stations shall be housed no more than twenty-five (25) feet from an entry point to a multilevel structure accessible by a public right -of-way or by a private drive accessible from a public right -of-way; 4. Installation of signage at all points of egress for a parking structure indicating the Corporation Commission registration number for the charging station operator, locations of electric vehicle charging stations, an emergency contact for the charging station operator listed in paragraph 9 of this subsection , and the location of the emergency call box listed in paragrap h 5 of this subsection; 5. Installation of one emergency call box and one ten -pound Class C fire extinguisher no more than twenty -five (25) feet from electric vehicle charging stations; Req. Installation of a fire alarm system with notification capability in accordance with Chap ter 10 of the Oklahoma International Building Code; 8. Installation of continuous video surveillance with seventy - two-hour recall capability in the immediate vicinity of electric vehicle charging stations ; 9. Designation of an emergency contact for the charging station operator with contact information for both business hours and after - hours emergencies; and 10. Any other applicable rules or minimum fire safety standards promulgated by the Corporation Commission pursuant to this section. C. The Corporation Commission may promulgate rules to implement the provisions of this section which shall, at minimum, include the following: 1. Require annual reports be filed by charging station operators in accordance with the provisions of Section 6501 et seq. of Title 68 of the Oklahoma Statutes and the rules of the Commission, attesting the continuous compliance with requirements in this section; 2. Authorize third-party inspections in accordance with Section 6509 of Title 68 of the Oklahoma Statutes ; and Req. No. 2058 Page 4 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 3. Set fees necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Commission pursuant to this section. D. If a charging station operator fails to meet the requirements of this section or any rules promulgated to implement the requirements of this section, t he charging station operator shall be subject to an administrative penalty from the Corporation Commission not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) per day, per violation as provided by law. E. All fees, fines, or assessments collected through the provisions of this section shall be deposited into the Corporation Commission Revolving Fund created in Section 180.7 of Title 17 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
