JOINT RESOLUTION
Be It Resolved by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Oregon:
PARAGRAPH 1.	 Section 40, Article I of the Constitution of the State of Oregon, is amended
to read:
Sec. 40.A sentence of death may not be imposed or executed. [Notwithstanding sections
15 and 16 of this Article, the penalty for aggravated murder as defined by law shall be death upon
unanimous affirmative jury findings as provided by law and otherwise shall be life imprisonment with
minimum sentence as provided by law.]
PARAGRAPH 2.The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be submitted to the
people for their approval or rejection at the next regular general election held throughout
thisstate.
