ANALYSIS: House Bill 797 amends the Second Class City Fireman Relief Law (Act 242 of 1933) to remove the prohibition on spouses of deceased City of Pittsburgh firefighters receiving survivor pension benefits if they remarry . The City of Pittsburgh is the only second- class city in Pennsylvania. House Bill 797 would take effect in 60 days. FISCAL IMPACT: House Bill 797 would have no adverse fiscal impact on the commonwealth. According to th e actuarial note prepared by Independent Fiscal Office (IFO) pursuant to Section 615-B of the Administrative Code of 1929, the bill would not have a material impact on the City of Pittsburgh’s pension system.
