Protects and continues health insurance coverage for the dependent of an employee who wishes to change their health insurance coverage to Medicare or are currently on Medicare.
Establishes a second avenue of qualification as an optician, to include successfully completing an apprenticeship program of not less than 4,100 hours in not less than 2 years. The act would also remove the standard of "good moral character."
Expands the deinstitutionalization subsidy aid program in the department of behavioral healthcare, developmental disabilities and hospitals to include adoptive parent(s) or siblings(s).
Increases the penalty for anyone found guilty of reckless driving while eluding police to a felony punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and subject to a loss of license from 1 to 2 years and a possible forfeiture of their motor vehicle.
JOINT RESOLUTION APPROVE AND PUBLISH AND SUBMIT TO THE ELECTORS A PROPOSITION OF AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION -- OF QUALIFICATION FOR OFFICE (Proposes a state constitutional amendment to provide no person could hold office as general officer unless that person was a resident and a registered voter in the State of Rhode Island for at least 5 years, continuously, prior to taking office.)
Authorizes Providence canteen vehicles to be equipped with sirens, whistles or bells and would require operators of any canteen vehicle to receive 5 hours of training in the operation of the vehicle and its emergency equipment.
Changes the community service requirements of a sentence related to the violation of § 11-44-21.1 relating to defacing private residences, offices, businesses or commercial property.
Provides that two (2) or more individuals associated to accomplish an act or acts which constitute shoplifting, could be deemed "racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations."
Requires that any person convicted of a charge of DUI or refusal, have an ignition interlock before being eligible for license reinstatement. Also permits a first-time offender to have charges dismissed.
Increases sentences for carrying a firearm when committing a crime of violence and for possessing a stolen firearm and requires that a person convicted of these offenses serve a period of time in which they would not be eligible for parole or probation.
Provides that any insurer refusing to honor a "direction to pay" executed by an insured for payment on a property damage benefit would constitute an unfair claims practice.
