JOINT RESOLUTION MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $500,000 TO THE RHODE ISLAND OFFICE OF THE POSTSECONDARY COMMISSIONER FOR THE RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL FOR PROGRESSIVE EDUCATION (This resolution would authorize the appropriation of the sum of $500,000 to the Rhode Island Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner for the Rhode Island School for Progressive Education.)
JOINT RESOLUTION MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $78,000,000 TO THE RHODE ISLAND TRANSIT AUTHORITY (RIPTA) (This resolution would authorize the appropriation of the sum of $78,000,000 to the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority.)
Directs the commissioner of postsecondary education to prepare a strategic plan for public higher education which is aligned with the goals of the board of education's strategic plan.
Requires employer to furnish items and conditions of employment and a pay stub explaining how wages were calculated/reasons for deductions/allows the employee to file a court action against employer for violation.
Requires the department of administration to provide a list of certified minority and women-owned business enterprises to each prospective contractor of a construction project.
Increases the minimum required awarded to minority business enterprises from 15% to 20% and of that, require a minimum of 10% be awarded to minority owned businesses and a minimum of 10% be awarded to women owned businesses.
Increases the amount of unpaid parental or family leave available to an employee, from thirteen (13) weeks to twenty-six (26) weeks, in any two (2) calendar years.
Allows the attorney general to investigate and bring an enforcement action against persistent fraud or illegality in the carrying on, conducting, or transaction of business or governmental activity.
Establishes criteria for the criminal offense of sexual assault when the victim is in the custody of a peace officer and also provides that a person convicted of custodial sexual assault would face imprisonment for not more than three (3) years.
Creates the Rhode Island baby bond trust to provide investment funds to children born to families with public health insurance or no insurance living in Rhode Island.
Provides eligibility for an additional forty dollars ($40.00) per month in food stamp benefits to certain qualifying persons or households eligible for food stamp benefits, commencing July 1, 2024.
Mandates all insurance contracts, plans or policies provide insurance coverage for the expense of testing and treating infertility, including preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), in conjunction with in vitro fertilization (IVF).
Specifies the requirements and procedures for licensing lactation counselors as well as the renewal, expiration, termination, refusal, revocation and suspension of licenses.
