Establishes the 2-1-1 essential community services hotline system; designates the office of children and family services to oversee the hotline system; establishes the availability and scope of information to be provided by the hotline system and requirements of call centers; requires the office of children and family services to collect certain data relating to the hotline system and to make annual reports to the governor and the legislature.
Establishes graduate tuition assistance program awards; sets amounts of such awards; provides for restrictions on such awards; makes related provisions.
Requires the department of health to develop and distribute educational materials, such as pamphlets and posters, to the public relating to common myths and misconceptions associated with asthma through healthcare providers, schools, and other channels.
Provides additional qualified persons who may verify domestic violence for purposes of permitting the termination of residential lease by victims of domestic violence.
Prohibits an individual with a vested interest or government agency from having a cause of action against a library staff member who refuses to remove such library materials whether such library materials belongs to a school or public library.
Requires members of a public body to complete a minimum of two hours of training, with one hour on the state's open meetings law and one hour on freedom of information law; requires certain local, city, county, town and village public body members to complete such training as well.
Requires insurance coverage of sonograms and other diagnostic procedures used to detect breast cancer for covered persons with a prior history of breast cancer or who have a first degree relative with a prior history of breast cancer.
Exempts computer hardware and software equipment and school supplies from sales tax during the seven day period commencing on the Tuesday immediately preceding the first Monday in September, known as Labor Day, and ending on Labor Day.
Authorizes the assessor of the county of Nassau to accept from the Incorporated Village of Hempstead an application for exemption from real property taxes for property owned by such village.
