Recognizing March 31, 2023, as "Cesar Chavez Day" in Pennsylvania to honor an American labor leader who advanced the rights of farm workers and advocated for labor reform in this Commonwealth and across this nation.
Designating January 6, 2023, as "1/6 Day" in Pennsylvania to honor the law enforcement officers who defended our nation against the insurrection at the United States Capitol and the members of the Congress of the United States who proceeded to vote despite threats to their personal safety, on the two-year anniversary of the January 6, 2021, insurrection.
Recognizing April 9, 2023, as "Appomattox Day" in Pennsylvania, in honor of the historic Confederate surrender in Appomattox, Virginia, which led to full emancipation in the United States and signaled the end of the American Civil War, and urging the designation of "Appomattox Day" as a legal holiday in this Commonwealth.
Recognizing April 12, 2023, as the 159th anniversary of the Fort Pillow Massacre, in honor of the fallen soldiers who lost their lives during this battle.
