RELATING TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY -- HOUSE COMMITTEE OF THE REPEALER

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Title 22 of the General Laws entitled "GENERAL ASSEMBLY" is hereby 1
amended by adding thereto the following chapter: 2

HOUSE COMMITTEE OF THE REPEALER 4
22-7.11-1 House committee of the repealer -- Composition. 5
(a) There is hereby created a house committee of the repealer. The house committee of the 6
repealer shall consist of six (6) members: six (6) of whom shall be members of the house of 7
representatives, not more than four (4) from the same political party, to be appointed by the speaker 8
of the house. 9
(b) The committee will meet in the off-session part of the year and will submit 10
recommendations at the start of the new year and/or session for consideration by the house. 11
22-7.11-2 Powers and duties of house committee of the repealer. 12
The house committee of the repealer shall have the authority to: 13
(1) Compile suggestions for repeal of statutes and regulations received from citizens, 14
businesses, and government agencies, including, but not limited to, those that are archaic and out 15
of date; and 16
(2) Following review of suggestions, make recommendations to the house and propose 17
repeal of statutes and regulations through legislation submitted to both chambers by members of 18
the committee. 19

The committee shall be in existence until December 31, 2027, unless further extended by 2
the house. 3
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 4

BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL

This act would create the house committee of the repealer to compile suggestions for repeal 1
of statutes, regulations, and executive orders received from citizens, businesses, and government 2
agencies, including, but not limited to, those that are archaic and out of date. This committee would 3
expire on December 31, 2027. 4
This act would take effect upon passage. 5
