RELATING TO HUMAN SE RVICES -- MEDICAID COVERAGE

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 
SECTION 1. Chapter 40-8.4 of the General Laws entitled "Health Care for Families" is 1 
hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2 
40-8.4-12.1. Post Covid-19 funding.     3 
If anyone, subject to the public health emergency (PHE) continuous coverage requirement 4 
for Medicaid, is deemed ineligible for Medicaid solely as a result of the end of the PHE, 5 
HealthSource RI shall automatically enroll qualified individuals who are transitioning off Medicaid 6 
at the end of the PHE into a qualified public health plan. The department shall fund and support the 7 
first six (6) months of a person's premiums once enrolled into the person's respective public health 8 
plan. 9 
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 10

This act would provide stop gap health insurance coverage for anyone who is found to no 1 
longer be eligible for Medicaid due to the end of the Federal COVID Emergency funds. 2 
This act would take effect upon passage. 3
