RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE RHODE ISLAND DEPARTMENT OF
ELEMENTARY AND SECON DARY EDUCATION TO AN NUALLY PREPARE A
WRITTEN REPORT OR ANNUALLY INCLUDE AND U PDATE INFORMATION ON THE
RIDE WEBSITE REGARDING SCHOOL FUNDING FOR EACH SCHOOL DISTRICT

WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education is tasked with 1
annually disseminating a total educational budget to the State Budget Officer; and 2
WHEREAS, Currently, the information provided is not disseminated in a manner that is 3
easily accessible to all members of the public and does not include an explanation or thorough 4
breakdown of school funding/aid per school district including: 5
• Any State funding provided to each district by category; 6
• Categorical funding for each district’s education-aid formula; 7
• The calculations utilized to produce the allotted funding for each district; and 8
• Concise explanation for any increases/decreases in each school district’s annual 9
aid/funding; Now, therefore be it 10
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 11
respectfully requests the Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education 12
("RIDE") to annually prepare a written report or annually include and update information on the 13
RIDE website regarding school funding for each school district as referenced; and be it further 14
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives hereby respectfully requests of the 15
Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education that said information be 16
provided to the General Assembly or on the RIDE Website, on or before October 1, 2023, and 17
annually thereafter on or before ninety days after the end of each fiscal year; and be it further 18

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 1
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Angélica Infante-Green, Commissioner of 2
Education, Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. 3
