EXPRESSING DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF THE HONORABLE
STEVEN E. SANTOS

WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of the 1
Honorable Steven Santos of Riverside, the beloved husband of Kathleen Santos for 45 years; and 2
WHEREAS, Mr. Santos was a lifelong East Providence resident. He was the son of the 3
late Edward and Martha Santos, and a graduate of East Providence High School, Providence 4
College and Bryant University; and 5
WHEREAS, Mr. Santos was a devoted family man and successful professional who 6
worked tirelessly to provide for his family and loved ones. He was a Senior Business Underwriter 7
Analyst for Lifespan Risk Services until his retirement in 2020; and 8
WHEREAS, Mr. Santos was active in civic and community affairs for most of his life. 9
He served with distinction and integrity as a member of the East Providence School Committee 10
from 2006 to 2010, and was an active member of the East Providence Republican City 11
Committee for many years; and 12
WHEREAS, In his free time, Mr. Santos was a board member of the Brewster Green 13
Resort in Brewster, Massachusetts, where he enjoyed spending time with his family every July. 14
He was also a big sports fan who rooted for all the New England sports teams, and was a 15
Providence Bruins season ticket holder for many years. He was also a man of deep faith, and was 16
a parishioner of St. Brendan’s Church where he served as a CYO advisor and Eucharistic 17
Minister; and 18
WHEREAS, In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Mr. Santos leaves behind his daughters, 19

Stephanie Sivalingam and her husband, Vidyasagar, and Sharon Leonard and her husband, Mark. 1
Mr. Santos also leaves behind his grandchildren, Allston, Maggie and Wyatt, and his many 2
friends; now, therefore be it 3
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 4
expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Steven E. Santos; and be it further 5
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 6
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Kathleen Santos and Family. 7
