MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $125,000 TO THE RHODE ISLAND DEPARTMENT
OF ENVIRONMENTAL MAN AGEMENT

WHEREAS, Infrastructure improvements necessary at Meshanticut Lake State Park in 1
Cranston, require engineering and architectural analyses and plans in order to examine potential 2
problems from significant environmental erosion, surrounding state road degradation, lack of 3
ADA compliance in some walkway areas, stormwater run-off problems, and infestation of a non-4
native lotus flower; and 5
WHEREAS, The analysis would need two parts: 6
(1) An analysis of the actual infrastructure improvement needed within the Park with a 7
primary focus on rehabilitation/replacement of the walkway and necessary improvements to make 8
the walkway safe and ADA compliant; and 9
(2) An analysis of the stormwater management and the circumstances which have caused 10
the current infrastructure to deteriorate, and identification of any other factors that may be 11
impacting conditions in the Park; now, therefore be it 12
RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not 13
otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2023-2024, the sum of one hundred twenty-five 14
thousand dollars ($125,000) to the Department of Environmental Management to fund 15
engineering and architectural analyses for infrastructure improvements required at Meshanticut 16
Lake State Park; and the state controller is hereby authorized and directed to draw his orders upon 17
the general treasurer for the payment of said sum, or so much thereof as may be from time to time 18
