HONORING AND THANKIN G THE MEXICAN CONSULAT E IN BOSTON FOR ALL OF 
THEIR HARD WORK IN PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED SERVICES TO CITIZENS OF 
MEXICO RESIDING IN RHODE ISLAND

WHEREAS, A consulate is a type of diplomatic mission that is subordinate to a nation’s 1 
main representation in the capital of a foreign country. The head of a Consul is typically termed a 2 
Consul General; and 3 
WHEREAS, Mexico, America’s neighbor to the south, has 53 consulates across the 4 
United States, with its Boston Consulate being led by the distinguished Consul General Alberto 5 
Fierro-Garza; and 6 
WHEREAS, Consul General Garza holds a Bachelor’s degree in sociology from the 7 
Universidad Iberoamericana, and served for a period of time as Director of its Social Promotion 8 
Department. He also holds a Master's degree in Latin-American history from Georgetown 9 
University. He began his distinguished diplomatic career in 1993, serving as the head of the 10 
Cultural Institute of the Mexican Embassy in Washington D.C. He has also served as the Consul 11 
General of Mexico in Orlando, Florida, and St. Paul, Minnesota, as the Director General for 12 
Educational and Cultural Cooperation, and as the Deputy Director General for North America; 13 
and 14 
WHEREAS, Each and every day, the Mexican Consulate serves as a great resource in 15 
assisting countless Mexican citizens living in the United States. Services offered include the 16 
issuance of birth, marriage, and death certificates, administration of the military census, issuing 17 
identity cards, requesting/renewing one’s passport or consular cards and DACA renewals. In 18 
addition, each year, the Mexican Consulate in Boston hosts several mobile clinics in Providence; 19

now, therefore be it   1 
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 2 
honors and thanks the Mexican Consulate in Boston for all of their hard work in providing much 3 
needed services to citizens of Mexico residing in the United States; and be it further 4 
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 5 
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Alberto Fierro-Garza, Consul General, 6 
Mexican Consulate in Boston.  7
