PROCLAIMING MAY 25TH , 2023, TO BE "BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS YOUTH OF THE
YEAR DAY" IN THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND

WHEREAS, The young people of Rhode Island are tomorrow's leaders; and 1
WHEREAS, There are currently nineteen Boys & Girls Clubs in communities throughout 2
the State of Rhode Island; and 3
WHEREAS, The Boys & Girls Clubs of America Youth of the Year Program was 4
established in 1947, and is the premier recognition program for Club members; and 5
WHEREAS, The Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year Program promotes service to the 6
Club, community and family, academic success, strong moral character, life goals, and poise and 7
public speaking ability; and 8
WHEREAS, This year, the recipient of the Boys & Girls Club Statewide Youth of the 9
Year Award is Daishanay Francis of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island. Ms. 10
Francis is a talented young lady with a bright future who is dedicated to serving her community 11
and working to ensure that all young men and women in Rhode Island have the ability to access 12
the American dream; and 13
WHEREAS, The following outstanding youth have also been honored as their clubs 14
"Youth of the Year" based on fulfilling the merits previously listed and they proudly represent 15
their respective Clubs which are part of the 16,000 youth served by the Boys & Girls Club 16
programs in the entire State of Rhode Island; and 17
WHEREAS, The honorees are: Iker Rojas, Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket, Kyle 18
Brennan Simmons, Boys & Girls Club of Newport County, Rosa Delgado, Boys & Girls Club of 19

Providence, Salem Hale, Boys & Girls Club of Warwick, and Abigail Gilliatt, Boys & Girls Club 1
of East Providence; now, therefore be it 2
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 3
proclaims May 25th, 2023, as "Boys & Girls Clubs Youth of the Year Day" in the State of Rhode 4
Island, and urges all citizens to join this House in recognizing and commending these youth for 5
their significant accomplishments and contributions to our communities; and be it further 6
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 7
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Rhode Island Alliance of Boys & Girls 8
Clubs. 9
