DESILVA Introduced By: Senators Gallo, Lawson, and Euer Date Introduced: February 07, 2023 Referred To: Recommended for Immediate Consideration WHEREAS, It is with deepest sympathy that this Senate has learned of the passing of 1 Corrine M. DeSilva, the loving wife of Roger DeSilva for fifty-five years, and the cherished 2 mother of Melissa Saccoccio and her husband, Dr. Steven Saccoccio, Jason DeSilva and his wife, 3 Jennifer, and Stephanie Mandeville and her husband, Jean-Paul; and 4 WHEREAS, Mrs. DeSilva grew up in the City of Cranston, the devoted daughter of 5 Joseph and Mary “Sue” Manzo, and the beloved sister of Claudia Rouleau, and Vanessa 6 Christofaro and her husband, Steven. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and 7 godchildren; and 8 WHEREAS, Mrs. DeSilva created a warm and welcoming home where she delighted in 9 entertaining friends and preparing Sunday dinners for family, particularly her cherished 10 grandchildren, Giovanna, Luke, Dominic, Mary, Jason Jr., Peter, Caroline, and great-11 granddaughter Amari; and 12 WHEREAS, For thirty years, Mrs. DeSilva had been employed in the Department of 13 Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Women and Infants Hospital, where she had developed 14 many lasting friendships throughout the years; and 15 WHEREAS, As a woman of great faith, Mrs. DeSilva possessed a deep and abiding love 16 for God which governed her throughout her life. As a young girl, she attended St. Mary Parish 17 and later found her home at Immaculate Conception Parish; and 18 WHEREAS, In addition to her family, work, and faith, Mrs. DeSilva had enjoyed honing 19 her culinary skills for more than forty years with her Gourmet Group, was an avid knitter, and 20 LC001263 - Page 2 of 2 was a novice yet patient golfer; and 1 WHEREAS, Corrine DeSilva was blessed with a loving and supportive family, good 2 friends and a deep faith that saw her through many difficult times, and she will be lovingly 3 remembered and deeply missed; now, therefore be it 4 RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby extends deepest 5 sympathy and condolences on the passing of Corrine M. DeSilva; and be it further 6 RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 7 transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Roger DeSilva and Family. 8 ======== LC001263 ========
