EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE P ASSING OF MARCIA CHRISTINE ALMEIDA

WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Marcia 1
Christine Almeida, the devoted wife of Ramiro Almeida for more than 53 years; and 2
WHEREAS, Marcia Almeida was born in Providence, the daughter of the late Edward 3
and Muriel Almeida. She graduated from the former St. Francis Xavier Academy in Providence, 4
and from Rhode Island College with a degree in Social Work; and 5
WHEREAS, Mrs. Almeida was an industrious and diligent woman who worked tirelessly 6
to take care of and provide for her family and loved ones as an Acquisitions Assistant for the 7
American Mathematical Society in Providence for more than 56 years; and 8
WHEREAS, Mrs. Almeida was a big sports fan who enjoyed following the Boston Red 9
Sox, New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics. More than anything in her life, Mrs. Almeida 10
cherished spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren; and 11
WHEREAS, In addition to her husband, Ramiro, Mrs. Almeida leaves behind her 12
daughters Christine Enos and her husband, Timothy, and Monica Tagger and her husband, Elgin. 13
She was the doting grandmother of Lucas Enos, Jacob Enos, Olivia Tagger and Isaac Tagger, and 14
is also survived by her sister, Melody Harris, and her nephews and nieces, Walter Blackwood, 15
Rhonda Farrell, Sal Salvo, and Andrea Salvo. She was the sister of the late Carol-Ann Blackwood 16
and Candace Salvo; now, therefore be it 17
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island hereby expresses its deepest 18
condolences on the passing of Marcia Christine Almeida; and be it further 19
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 20

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Ramiro Almeida and Family. 1
