RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- THE DEPARTMENT OF
HOUSING

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 42-64.34-2 of the General Laws in Chapter 42-64.34 entitled "The 1
Department of Housing" is hereby amended to read as follows: 2
42-64.34-2. Powers and duties. 3
The secretary of housing shall have all powers and duties: 4
(a) pursuant Pursuant to ยง 42-64.19-3(a)(4).; and 5
(b) To create a written guide for consumers relating to the rights and duties of landlords 6
and tenants pursuant to chapter 18 of title 34 which the secretary shall update at a minimum on an 7
annual basis. 8
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 9

This act would empower the secretary of housing to create a written guide for consumers 1
relating to the rights and duties of landlords and tenants, updated on an annual basis, at a minimum. 2
This act would take effect upon passage. 3
