RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNME NT -- THE DEPARTMENT OF 
HOUSING

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 
SECTION 1. Section 42-64.34-2 of the General Laws in Chapter 42-64.34 entitled "The 1 
Department of Housing" is hereby amended to read as follows: 2 
42-64.34-2. Powers and duties. 3 
The secretary of housing shall have all powers and duties as follows: 4 
(1) Pursuant pursuant to ยง 42-64.19-3(a)(4).; and 5 
(2) Creation of a written guide for consumers relating to the rights and duties of landlords 6 
and tenants pursuant to chapter 18 of title 34, which the secretary shall update at minimum on an 7 
biennial basis. The guide shall be posted on the website of the department of housing and shall be 8 
published in both English and Spanish. 9 
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect January 1, 2024. 10

tenant laws to be updated biennially. 2
