RELATING TO HEALTH AND SAFETY -- STATE BUILDING CODE

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 23-27.3 of the General Laws entitled "State Building Code" is hereby 1
amended by adding thereto the following section: 2
23-27.3-129.4. Refrigerants. 3
No provision of the Rhode Island building code, or any other law, regulation, or other 4
requirement in Rhode Island, may prohibit or otherwise limit the use of a refrigerant designated as 5
acceptable for use pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions of 42 U.S.C. 7671k; provided 6
any equipment containing such refrigerant is listed and installed in accordance with safety standards 7
and use conditions imposed pursuant to such designation. 8
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 9

This act would bring state law into federal compliance by prohibiting or otherwise limiting 1
the use of refrigerants designated as acceptable pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 7671k as long as the 2
refrigerant is listed and installed in accordance with the designated safety standards and use 3
conditions. 4
This act would take effect upon passage. 5
