Amends the local share of education funding to be paid to charter public schools based on a comparison of performance data between the specific school from which the student is coming and the specific charter school that will be receiving the student.
Requires the student advisory council to meet at least quarterly, provides the chairperson with equal voting powers as members on the council, and provides that a student under eighteen (18) years is exempt from the senate advise and consent process.
Requires all educator preparation programs to include lessons on cultural competency and how teachers shall meet the instructional needs of multilingual learners.
Prohibits colleges and universities from withholding a student's transcript due to the student failing to pay any expenses owed to the college or university but permits the withholding of a student's academic credits and grades or diploma or degree.
Provides that in the event of the death of an educator or a student, a local educational agency be given up to five (5) days after the death to implement a flexible school schedule for teachers and students.
Establishes the first Green Justice Zone, a model that may be replicated in future years to ensure that all communities throughout the state have clean air and clean water.
Establishes the renewable ready program and fund to promotes the responsible siting/development of renewable energy generating resources in locations where it would be an ancillary beneficial use to the redevelopment of previously contaminated property.
SENATE RESOLUTION RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION TO CONDUCT A STUDY ON THE TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC OUTCOMES OF DECARBONIZING RHODE ISLAND BY 2030
Prohibits the application of lawn care pesticides on the grounds of any public or private pre-school or public or private school with students in grade twelve (12) or lower, except in an emergency situation.
Deletes subsection (b) of this section which lists the furbearing mammals in the state and requires DEM to promulgate by rule, a list of "furbearers" for this chapter.
