EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE P ASSING OF ANTHONY M. ZAINYEH

WHEREAS, It is with deep sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Anthony 1 
M. Zainyeh. Mr. Zainyeh was born in Pawtucket, the beloved son of the late George and Kanom 2 
Zainyeh. He was the devoted husband of the late Corinne Zainyeh and was the devoted father of 3 
the Honorable George Zainyeh, former member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives, 4 
and Diane Zainyeh. Mr. Zainyeh and his late wife lived for 47 years in Warwick, where they 5 
raised their family; and 6 
WHEREAS, Anthony Zainyeh was a graduate of Pawtucket East High School and Bryant 7 
College and had a very successful career for 42 years working for the Rhode Island Department 8 
of Taxation, where he served as the State’s Auditor of Narragansett/Lincoln Downs Race tracks 9 
and Newport Jai Alai. He completed his distinguished public service career as a senior revenue 10 
officer in the Enforcement Unit, where he was highly respected for his vast leadership skills, 11 
tireless work ethic and abiding integrity. During his state service career, he was also repeatedly 12 
elected by his colleagues to serve as the President of Council 94, Local 2448; and  13 
WHEREAS, In his free time, Anthony Zainyeh enjoyed reading about and discussing 14 
history, loved sports, western movies and television shows, and walking the Warwick Mall. Mr. 15 
Zainyeh was also the proprietor of Salvatore’s Lounge in West Greenwich; and 16 
WHEREAS, Anthony M. Zainyeh is survived by his son, the Honorable George Zainyeh, 17 
and his wife Ann Marcoccio Zainyeh, and his daughter Diane Zainyeh, and his grandchildren, 18 
Serena Barton Zainyeh, Anthony Zainyeh and Isabella Zainyeh. Mr. Zainyeh was predeceased by 19 
his parents, George and Kanom, his brothers, Michael and Charles, and sisters Rose, Mary and 20

RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby 2 
expresses its condolences to the Zainyeh Family on the passing of Anthony M. Zainyeh; and be it 3 
further 4 
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to 5 
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the Honorable George Zainyeh and Diane 6 
Zainyeh. 7
