A N A C T
RELATING TO PUBLIC UTILITIES AND CARRIERS -- WATER SUPPLY

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 39-15 of the General Laws entitled "Water Supply" is hereby 1
amended by adding thereto the following section: 2
39-15-13. Maintenance, operation and delivery of water services.. 3
Any water supplier, defined pursuant to ยง 39-15.1-2, shall be responsible for the 4
maintenance, operation, and delivery of water to the lot line of each individual parcel of land 5
contained within a residential subdivision, including any and all costs associated with a pumping 6
station not contained within the residential subdivision, and for any pumping station not contained 7
on school property delivering water to a school. For purposes of this section, any condominium or 8
multi-family parcel of land shall not constitute a residential subdivision. 9
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 10

This act would provide that water utility companies be responsible for all costs associated 1
with maintenance, operation, and delivery of water to the lot line of individual parcels of land 2
within a residential subdivision, including any and all costs associated with a pumping station not 3
contained within the residential subdivision and for any pumping station delivering water to a 4
school not contained on school property. 5
This act would take effect upon passage. 6
