RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES -- COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTERS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 40-16 of the General Laws entitled "Community Health Centers" is 1
hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2
40-16-5. Community based health care investment. 3
(a) The department of health in consultation with the executive office of health and human 4
services, shall collaborate with community health centers, to establish new programs designed to 5
attract additional federal funds, with a focus on available Medicaid assistance and Teaching Health 6
Center Graduate Medical Education programs. 7
(b) The residency selection process at any community health center for any doctor, shall 8
include as a consideration, the likelihood of the doctor remaining employed at that community 9
health center upon the completion of the doctor's residency. 10
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 11

This act would require the department of health (DOH) and the executive office of health 1
and human services (EOHHS) to collaborate with community health centers, specifically to 2
establish new programs designed to attract federal funds, with a focus on Medicaid funding and the 3
utilization of Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education programs. 4
This act would take effect upon passage. 5
