AMENDING THE RULES OF THE SENATE FOR THE YEARS 2023-2024

RESOLVED, That sections 5.1, 5.1-4 and 5.1-5 of the rules for the Senate adopted by the 1
Senate at its January session A.D. 2023 entitled "Senate Resolution Adopting the Rules of the 2
Senate for the Years 2023-2024" be and the same are hereby amended to read as follows: 3
SECTION 5. 4
COMMITTEES 5
5.1 Standing Committees. 6
The senate shall have the following standing committees: 7
1. Committee on Judiciary 8
2. Committee on Finance 9
3. Committee on Housing and Municipal Government 10
4. Committee on Labor and Gaming 11
5. Committee on Special Legislation and Veterans’ Affairs 12
6. Committee on Health and Human Services 13
7. Committee on Education 14
8. Committee on Commerce 15
9. Committee on Environment and Agriculture 16
10. Committee on Rules, Government Ethics and Oversight 17
11. Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies 18

It shall be the duty of the committee on labor to consider the appointments of the 20

governor referred to it by the senate which require the advice and consent of the senate and all 1
legislation and matters relating to gaming issues, constitutional amendments relating to gaming 2
issues, the workers' compensation and labor laws of the state, to maintain oversight over the 3
application, execution and operation of the laws within its jurisdiction and to consider such other 4
matters as may be referred to it by the senate. 5
5.1-5 Committee on Special Legislation and Veterans’ Affairs. 6
It shall be the duty of the committee on special legislation and veterans’ affairs to 7
consider the appointments of the governor referred to it by the senate which require the advice 8
and consent of the senate and all legislation and matters relating to constitutional amendments, 9
liquor laws, gaming issues, license plates, veterans’ affairs, domestic animals, commissions and 10
resolutions, to maintain oversight over the application, execution and operation of the laws within 11
its jurisdiction and to consider such other matters as may be referred to it by the senate. 12
5.1-11 Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies. 13
It shall be the duty of the committee on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies 14
to consider the appointments of the governor referred to it by the senate which require the advice 15
and consent of the senate and all legislation and matters relating to the creation, use, and 16
regulation of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, and to maintain oversight over the 17
application, execution and operation of the laws within its jurisdiction and to consider such other 18
matters as may be referred to it by the senate. 19
