The Bright Today Scholarship And Open Enrollment Education Act
Establishes a new educational program that allows students to enroll public and private schools of their choice.
Allows for the establishment of innovation schools for the purpose of improving school performance and student achievement through increased autonomy and flexibility.
Allows for the establishment of innovation schools for the purpose of improving school performance and student achievement through increased autonomy and flexibility.
Allows municipalities participating in the state prekindergarten program to accept students from outside the municipality under certain conditions and establishes a lottery for enrollment in the program.
Establishes the "Attendance for Success Act" which focuses on student attendance in schools, with an emphasis on chronically absent students.
Requires all public schools to screen students for behavioral health concerns by June 30, 2025, and thereafter, all students in the third grade, eighth grade, and students who enroll from a district outside of the state.
Establishes the Failing School Choice Act and permits students at failing schools to enroll in any public school and also establishes the Rhode Island education revitalization fund to provide funding to the school choice program.
2) MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE ACT (Mandates 20 students per classroom for kindergarten through second grade. Exceptions for emergencies and temporary situations, not to exceed 3 days and mid-year enrollments.
