A house RESOLUTION to congratulate Gloria Ernestine Hodnett OF ORANGEBURG COUNTY on the occasion of her one hundreth birthday and to extend best wishes for a joyous celebration and many more years filled with health and happiness. Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Gloria Ernestine Hodnett of Orangeburg County will celebrate her one hundredth birthday on May 14, 2025, at Unity Fellowship Community Church surrounded by the love of family and friends; and Whereas, born on May 14, 1925, in Brooklyn, New York, during the early part of the twentieth century, Gloria Hodnett has lived through a century marked by profound social change, incredible technological progress, and world-shaping events; and Whereas, in June 1943, she married the love of her life, Stanfield Hodnett, with whom she shared a devoted partnership and raised two cherished children, Stanley Hodnett and Elaine Ayers; and Whereas, Gloria Hodnett devoted thirty-two years of dedicated service to the people of New York through her work at Consolidated Edison, the city's electric company, where she was respected for her professionalism, integrity, and unwavering dedication; and Whereas, her proudest role has always been that of family matriarch. The beloved grandmother of three, great-grandmother of nine, and great-great grandmother of five, her legacy now spans five generations; and Whereas, Gloria Hodnett's life exemplifies resilience, grace, and the enduring power of love and family. She has enriched the lives of many throughout her remarkable journey; and Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is honored to recognize this extraordinary milestone and join her loved ones in celebrating a century of a life well lived. Now, therefore, Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Gloria Ernestine Hodnett of Orangeburg County on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday and extend best wishes for a joyous celebration and many more years filled with health and happiness. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Gloria Ernestine Hodnett. ----XX----
