An Act to require a report regarding refugee resettlement services. 1
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA: 2
Section 1. That a NEW SECTION be added to chapter 28-1: 3
Any resettlement agency that is authorized to do business in this state and provides 4
programs, services, or other resources in support of refugee resettlement in this state 5
shall, on or before October first of each year, provide a report to the Governor and the 6
Legislature setting forth the following for the preceding fiscal year: 7
(1) A detailed description of each program, service, or resource provided by the agency 8
in support of refugee resettlement; 9
(2) The number of resettled refugees who were provided with programs, services, or 10
other resources in each political subdivision; and 11
(3) Demographic information pertaining to the resettled refugees who were provided 12
with programs, services, or other resources, including: 13
(a) Age; 14
(b) Country of origin; 15
(c) Education; and 16
(d) Gender. 17
The report must also include the number of refugees that the entity anticipates will 18
arrive and receive resettlement services by or through the agency during the current fiscal 19
year. 20
