An Act to create the McCook Lake contingency fund and to transfer moneys to the 1
fund. 2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA: 3
Section 1. There is created in the state treasury the McCook Lake contingency fund. The fund 4
consists of all moneys designated for deposit in the fund. Interest on moneys credited to the 5
fund must remain in the fund. The state treasurer shall administer the fund. The purpose of 6
the fund is to make grants to cover costs associated with cleaning up and restoring McCook 7
Lake, including the replacement of pipes for the McCook Lake pumping system, and flood 8
mitigation planning for McCook Lake. 9
Section 2. The state treasurer shall transfer $2,000,000 from the general fund to the McCook 10
Lake contingency fund created in section 1 of this Act. 11
Section 3. This Act is effective beginning June 30, 2025. 12
