An Act to modify the composition and staffing requirements of the South Dakota -1 
Ireland Trade Commission. 2 
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA: 3 
Section 1. That § 1-57-2 be AMENDED: 4 
1-57-2. The South Dakota-Ireland Trade Commission consists of: 5 
(1) Two members of the Senate, appointed by the president pro tempore of the 6 
Senate; 7 
(2) Two members of the House of Representatives, appointed by the speaker of the 8 
House; 9 
(3) A representative of a private sector association headquartered in this state and 10 
focused on the promotion of international trade, appointed by the Executive Board 11 
of the Legislative Research Council; and 12 
(4) The secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources, or the 13 
secretary's designeeAn officer of the Executive Branch, appointed by the Governor; 14 
(5) A representative of a South Dakota private industry, appointed by the president 15 
pro tempore of the Senate; and 16 
(6) A representative of a South Dakota private industry, appointed by the speaker of 17 
the House of Representatives. 18 
Each appointed member shall serve for a term of two years and may be reappointed 19 
without limit. If a position becomes vacant, the position must be filled, for the duration of 20 
the term, in the same manner as the original appointment. 21 
Section 2. That § 1-57-3 be AMENDED: 22 
1-57-3. The Department of Agriculture and Natural ResourcesThe Executive Board 23 
of the Legislative Research Council shall provide administrative services to the South 24

At the initial meeting of the commission and annually thereafter, the members shall 1 
select one from among the four appointed legislators to serve as the chair. The commission 2 
shall meet at least quarterly, at the call of the chair. 3
