Overstrikes indicate deleted language. An Act to clarify the adoption and use of the plumbing code . 1 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA: 2 Section 1. That § 36-25-15 be AMENDED: 3 36-25-15. The commission shall promulgate rules, in compliance accordance with 4 chapter 1-26, to adopt and publish minimum standards relative to for the design, 5 construction, installation, improvement, extension, and alteration of materials, piping, 6 venting, fixtures, appliances, and appurtenances in relation to plumbing and plumbing 7 systems. All plumbing and plumbing systems shall must be designed, constructed, 8 installed, improved, extended, and altered in substantial accord with the requirements of 9 the 2015 2024 Uniform Plumbing Code, International Association of Plumbing and 10 Mechanical Officials, as in effect January 1, 2015, and such (January 1, 2024) and any 11 amendments or revisions, as adopted by the commission, pursuant to chapter 1-26, to 12 protect the health, life, safety, and welfare of persons and property in this state. 13 Section 2. That § 36-25-16 be AMENDED: 14 36-25-16. Nothing in this chapter shall prohibit prohibits any municipality by 15 ordinance from making and enforcing requirements and standards regarding plumbing, 16 and from making inspections and collecting fees relating thereto. Any such ordinances 17 shall ordinance must be deemed the applicable standards as to any plumbing work in such 18 the municipality, provided that the standards, as contained in such ordinances the 19 ordinance, meet the minimum standards of the State Plumbing Code plumbing code, as 20 adopted by the commission, and that any person registered by the commission may do 21 plumbing work in such the municipality for a period of six months following application for 22 a permit or license in said the municipality. 23 25.194.11 2 25 Underscores indicate new language.
