SUMMARY OF BILL: Extends the termination date of the Tennessee Bureau of
Investigation (TBI) to June 30, 2029. Under the Tennessee Governmental Entity Review Law, the TBI is
scheduled to terminate on June 30, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumptions:
• This legislation continues an existing entity at its current funding level.
• According to the Department of Finance and Administration’s 2024-2025 Work Program,
total funding for the TBI for FY24-25 is $149,052,900 ($111,000,200 state; $13,435,800
federal; $24,616,900 other revenue).
