HB 383 FISCAL NOTE Fiscal Review Committee Tennessee General Assembly January 30, 2025 Fiscal Analyst: Chris Higgins | Email: chris.higgins@capitol.tn.gov | Phone: 615-741-2564 HB 383 SUMMARY OF BILL: Requires the Commissioner of Health (Commissioner) to add alpha- gal syndrome to the Department of Health's (DOH) published list of reportable diseases and conditions by July 1, 2025, the occurrence of which must be reported to DOH by a healthcare provider pursuant to administrative rule. FISCAL IMPACT: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • Pursuant to DOH rule 1200-14-01.02(2), the Commissioner shall re-evaluate, update, and post the list of reportable diseases at least annually and from time to time as appropriate. • It is estimated that DOH can add alpha-gal syndrome to the published list of reportable diseases utilizing existing resources, without an increase in expenditures. • Requiring healthcare providers to report an occurrence of alpha-gal syndrome to DOH will not have a significant impact on the operations of DOH or the health-related boards. • Any fiscal impact to state or local government is estimated to be not significant.
