SUMMARY OF BILL: Authorizes the Fish and Wildlife Commission (Commission) to
name real property, infrastructure, improvements to infrastructure, or features under the jurisdiction
of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumptions:
• Tennessee Code Annotated § 70-1-206 defines the Commission’s duties, including
appointing leadership, approving budgets, setting wildlife policies, regulating fees, and
managing certain natural areas.
• The proposed legislation amends the current statute to grant the Commission authority to
name real property, infrastructure, and features under the TWRA’s jurisdiction.
• This legislation is not expected to have a significant fiscal impact. While minor costs may
arise from updating signage after a name change, these expenses are already accounted for
within the TWRA’s existing sign maintenance budget.
