SUMMARY OF BILL: Requires the Tennessee Advisory Commission on
Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR) to conduct a study of how this state’s firearm laws impact the
following in regard to each county: (1) firearm sales; (2) criminal offenses; and (3) use of firearms for
self-defense. Requires TACIR to report its findings to each member of the General Assembly and
provide a copy of the study to the Legislative Librarian by January 1, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumption:
• According to TACIR, the study may be performed utilizing existing staff and resources;
therefore, any increase in state expenditures is estimated to be not significant.
