SB 233 FISCAL NOTE Fiscal Review Committee Tennessee General Assembly January 25, 2025 Fiscal Analyst: Chris Higgins | Email: chris.higgins@capitol.tn.gov | Phone: 615-741-2564 SB 233 SUMMARY OF BILL: Creates the Conservatorship Management Task Force (Task Force) to review the care and management provided by conservators to determine the health, safety, and welfare of individuals under a conservatorship and make recommendations. Requires the Task Force to consist of nine members: five members representing state agencies and four public members. Establishes that the Task Force is administratively attached to the Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) and requires all appropriate agencies of state government to assist the Task Force, upon request. Requires the Task Force to submit a report of its findings and recommendations to DDA and the Administrative Office of the Courts no later than December 31, 2025 and each December 31, thereafter. FISCAL IMPACT: NOT SIGNIFICANT Assumptions: • The DDA will be able to provide administrative support to the Task Force utilizing existing staff and resources, without a significant increase in expenditures. • The Task Force will be composed of nine non-legislative members and will meet quarterly. • Members of the Task Force will not receive compensation for their service, nor reimbursement for expenses incurred while attending any meeting or performing any duties related to the Task Force. • Any fiscal impact to state agencies from assisting the Task Force is estimated to be not significant.
