SUMMARY OF BILL: Expands the State Board of Education’s (SBE’s) power to subpoena
the appearance of persons or the production of items, including, but not limited to, documents,
videos, and audio recordings, that the chair or the chair's designee considers material or relevant to
an accountability hearing for a local education agency operating a public school, or a public charter
school, receiving a "D" or "F" letter grade.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumption:
• Expanding the SBE’s subpoena power will not significantly affect the operations of the
board. Any fiscal impact is estimated to be not significant.
