SUMMARY OF BILL:    Requires county election commissions to inquire as to whether a 
private building may be used free of charge when negotiating the rentals of polling places. 
 
 
FISCAL IMPACT: 
 
NOT SIGNIFICANT  
  
 Assumptions: 
 
• Pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 2-3-107(c), a county election commission may pay a 
reasonable rental fee when establishing a polling place in private buildings. 
• County election commissions will be able to inquire about free rentals by utilizing existing 
staff and resources. 
• Any decrease in local expenditures associated with inquiring on free rentals is assumed to be 
not significant.
