SUMMARY OF BILL: Requires a local education agency (LEA) to notify a parent or
guardian of a student at least ten calendar days before the student's individualized education
program (IEP) meeting to ensure that the parent or guardian has an opportunity to attend, unless
the parent or guardian and LEA agree to meet prior to ten calendar days. Requires an LEA to
provide certain information to the parent or guardian of a student who is the subject of the IEP
meeting at least 48 hours before the meeting.
FISCAL IMPACT:
NOT SIGNIFICANT
Assumption:
• LEAs will be able to comply with the notification and information requirements pursuant
to IEP meetings within existing resources, without a significant increase in local
expenditures.
